I bought an '87; 951 Saturday. I know that there is supposed to be a tag on the rear panel by the spare tire with the option and paint codes on it. It's not there on my car. Is there any other place I can find the codes for the options that were installed on my car?

Are you sure? It's a piece of white paper taped to the inner body - try removing the whole hatch carpet. I don't know where else to look, but you can always get the list of all the codes, and just check out your car to see if it has each thing or not. Sorry if this doesn't help.

If the option code sticker is missing (it sometimes is....), there was a second one in the "Warranty and Maintenance" manual that was issued with the car. If that's also missing, then I think the only option is to request a "Porsche Certificate of Authenticity" -- aka Kardex -- which costs around $100.

Thank you for the replies. Yes, I've removed the whole rear carpet and the paper is not there. I recieved the owners manual from the P.O. but not the warranty book. Guess I'll have to join PCNA.

To be honest, 99% of option codes are uninteresting. They are stuff like: air conditioning, sunroof, and cruise control -- mostly stuff that's pretty easy to notice that you have (or suppose to have, but don't work...).

I'm trying to figure out if I have the 030 suspension. It's got Koni shocks but the p.o. didn't know if they were stock or if the first owner installed them.

the option list in my warranty book and the one by the left rear tail light don't show the same stuff.
i don't have one by the fuse panel.
i did the pca check the same way and they showed a different list of options.
