Default Open Exhaust Sounds Freakin' Awesome!

So I've finally got my engine back together enough to run, but I still haven't bolted the headers to the rest of the pipe. I was honestly amazed by how well it rumbles in my garage. (I somehow doubt my neighbors were equally impressed.) The sound is deep and throaty like a big V8. Maybe it's just because I didn't rev on it, or because I've been listening to those silly little motorbike engines for so long. I don't really care the reason; I'm still tingling from it.

Anyhow do any of you guys run a fully open exhaust on a 2.5NA? How does it sound under load at speed?

Damn I'm glad to have my car "running" again. Turn away GSP, turn away.

i ran my '44 with a straight pipe in place of the cat and a straight pipe after the cat with no muffler, just to see what it was like (if it sounded good I was thinkin this would be my DE setup). i made two important observations:
1. sounds like ****
2. runs way lean

I ran my mom's 944 with no muffler (just a cat) and it sounded cool. I don't know if it sounded good enough to listen to every day, but it was fun to try it. Revving sounded cool too. I didn't drive like that though.

Ran mine open when I dropped the cat mount all the way back-- I was on the way to Hershey the first year I went.. the weld broke, had to pull the tailpipe and stow it in the hatch for the next hour of driving.

It's DAMN loud.

I have a resonator going to a Magnaflow High Flow Cat. It's fairly loud and rumbles heavy at idle. I hope I can pass the 92 dB limitation at the autocrosses. I may have to add another resonator on it.

There was a minivan the other day that must of have open headers or something. That thing was louder than the 951 by far!

I ran this manifold on my DiSable for a while after I crunched it jumping speed bumps on campus. I thought it sounded pretty cool, about like a 1.5L 3-cyl tractor.

I smash the cat honeycomb (the cat pipe remain on car) and use a Borla direct flow exhaust.....
deep race sound as result with minor rumbles and "bangs" on every shift change....shifting over 5000rpm.(flames in the dark also).Nice, but not for listening 30 minutes.
