Default Part of my sunroof missing?

Well my sunroof does not work from what I thought were stripped gears, so I ordered a set of gears to replace my striped ones. And get in there and find out that it looks like I am missing some type of screw shaped thing that turns the gears themselves. Not sure what the real name is but, either way putting in the new gears will do nothing.

So is the thing I need some how fallen down the tube or what? If so how can I get it back out? lol

Its a '87 944 NA

sounds like the limit switch in the rear is not set correct and they threaded themselves down toofar...try putting the roof "up" with everything out and see if it threads the cable back up into where it needs to be.

Good thought, but no joy.

I might just have to take out the whole assembly.

Press and hold the microswitch at the front of the sunroof. Then press and hold the sunroof open switch, and listen for the motor. It should come back up, this happened to me a few weeks ago.

Uh, what microswitch at the front of the sunroof?

I don't think the late models have that. But I do not know for sure.
