Default Sunroof worm gears

Hokay, asking for a friend...

we replaced his sunroof gears a while back... the roof would lift about an inch... that's about it... it would retract the arms and be good and all though....

Anyway, he went to fix that so they extended all the way, and apparently the worm gear housing "steel tubes" ate the worm gears... he said they retracted into them, and he's unable to get them out...

Any idea how to fix that? thanks!

If he takes the covers off the gear assemblies like he was going to replace the gears, he should be able to pop the gears out.

Sounds like it might have retracted down inside, open the driver side motor cover in the hatch and see if it didn't back itself in there. Izzy and I had the same problem when we were fixing his just a few weekends ago.
