There's usually a post underneath somewhere if you need to jump it.

my dakota had shaved handles and we put a battery terminal by the bumper to jump it if the battery died..still scared me though. My 69 firebird i shaved the handles but left the lock, so when you turned the key the door popped open.

Why in the picture does the hummer still have lines where the handles go.. I watched on trucks or something on speed or spike tv, and they showed how to do it, it's not that tough actually with the right tools.

Oh, and anyone say off topic?

if you want to shave them, weld them up and smooth them out, repaint the doors. Dont think those plates will work with our style of handles. Make sure you can open/close the doors w/o the handles before you weld them up though.

I have shaved handles on a 1950's hot rod I own. I wouldn't recommend them for a daily driver. They look really cool until your battery dies, the remote's batteries die, the solenoid burns out, etc. When my driver's door solenoid died I didn't look very cool climbing in through the passenger door. This is a mod best left for a weekend cruiser. If you want something smoother you can install handles from another car (or push button like the Ferrari 348) but keep it mechanical.

Shaved handles look awesome on custom hot rods and lowriders, the kind of stuff Chip Foose does. Completely custom, completely badass cars.
