Default Strut brace

Dumb question, but when you fit an adjustable strut brace on an 83 944, do you adjust it to pull the towers in, or do you adjust it to push them out slightly, or somewhere in the middle?

i would adjust it so it drops right on... But i believe it is to keep the towers from pulling apart.

I would agree with Dan and not preload the bar. I have a triangulated section (down to the inner strut area on Passanger side) on my strut brace bar for my 83' and this I do put some tension on via the turnbuckle but it does not affect the bars side-to-side preload.

I agree. The adjustment is ONLY meant to adjust for fit, not preload.

Super, just what I need to know, guys. I'm making one for my GSL-SE RX7 and it will not be adjustable, it will drop right on. That particular RX7 is quicker than the 944, I used it to autox last year as the 944 was in the shop, costs less to maintain too, but it is still not a Porshe and the Madaz doors do not do the teutonic clunk on closing .
