PET Resolution
Hey, I finally found my PET cd and just reinstalled it on the computer. I didn't remember having to set my screen @ 1280X1024 (or whatever it is) to have it fit on my screen properly. Any lower ( I prefer 1024x860 or whatever it is ) and I can't see the whole screen. Anyone know?
thanks

Windows programs that are written to be displayed on a screen at a specific size should still be able to be run if the screen size is larger. Granted, that the windows program won't cover the entire display, but so what? It should still work properly.

At the resolution they require, its almost too small to read...at the resolution where its easy for me to read and see the diagrams I am missing over 1/4 of the screen, so for my purposes..it's not working properly.

Porsche has made PET downloadable at:
http://www.porsche.com/usa/accessori...originalparts/
There are separate files for the different 944 models, use the drop down box to select. These run on my 1024 x 768 laptop, but the one from my CD will not. You can use the magnify feature in Acrobat Reader.

It depends on the version. I just got version 6.50 update 197 (from January 2006) and it will not install or run unless you have the computer at 1280x1024 resolution. Older versions would load at a lower resolution but have the problems you mentioned.
The link to the PET online is a PDF version that only has limited years of limited models. For example there is no 993TT available in the PDF version, and only one year many models like the 964, 993, 986 is covered. Another problem with the PDF version is that you can't input your VIN, part number, check for superseeded part numbers or check parts across model lines.

In the PDFs you can however do a reverse lookup of a partnumber just like in PET, simply do a CTRL F and search for the partnumber is this format: *** *** *** **. It does not matter much if a partnumber is superceded, when ordering the old number is still recognized by any Porsche computer system and is translated into the new number. Though this would not include any additional parts that might be needed to complete installation of the new version of the part. It would only be of real importance if the files included any prices.
As for the 993 Turbo, there has never been a seperate parts catalog for it. 993 Turbo parts are listed seperately where needed in the 993 parts catalog. By engine code, transmission code, or by a Turbo specific M-code. The only production Porsche Turbo that ever had its own parts catalog was the 1975 - 1977 model, and the 959 perhaps if you consider that to be a "Porsche Turbo".
Cheers,
Brian
