Default Shift boot?

I recall seeing some very affordable vinyl shift boot recover kits, but I can't find them anymore, anyone know where to get one?

I suppose 42.50 for a new shift boot isn't bad.

We stopped doing the vinyl because we got comments like "it squeaks when its cold" or "it just doesn't feel right."
They were cheap and worked well, but they were not leather. So.. now we just have the leather ones. Though they cost a bit more (about 2x as much) everyone loves them.

What do you need? I have early black and brown, they just have not made it on the site yet. If you need something special just let me know and I can work something out.

How hard are they to change? What does it entail?

Takes patience and about an *hour to mold and seat correctly so you don't have a wrinkle when you press the insert back in. Might I recommend the very nice replacement inserts that are on rennbay while you are at it?

* depending on how long it takes you get the shifter out, etc.

Are there any tricks? I already feel my fingers cramping up trying to install it.

Make sure you leave about 1/4" extra leather at the top of the ****...so you can fold it over and insert the shift pattern.

Also, if you're shift pattern has the plastic prongs--cut them off--you don't need them and can't install the pattern over the new leather if the prongs are attatched.

Recalling what I did here... hmm...

Basically just work the leather to form around the **** so it stretches into position. The best results take patience from you. You are going to want the insert to drop in place and not have any wrinkles in the leather as you are doing it. That's the trick in good presentation. As I recall after I completed, my thumbs felt like I just spent 6 hours typing messages on a blackberry. I think I actually stopped for a beer break too.
