Default How hard

It seems my driver side speaker has shat itself.
How hard is it to remove the interior trim? Where do I start?

The left rear Qtr panel speaker i assume you are taling about . The sortest way I have found is to do it without removing the rear window.:

1. remove the rear seat back
2. remove the rear seat botton. its just glued down allong the bottom, and a few screws across the top ( makes it easier to do both sides )
3. remove the door sill plate
4. remove the door seal trim at the panel.
5. remove the small philips panel screws and mount for rear seat latch.
6. peel the vinal door trim back where it wraps into the door opening cand carefully fold the lower panel up to access the speakers.

..you can aslo do a search here for otherinfo, this has been posted before.

If you are talking about the rear speakers, LEARN how to remove that quarter window! It REALLY isn't that hard to do. Beats the heck out of hacking up the rear side vinyl, and busting up the cardboard backing on that panel. Do it right, or take it to a Porsche dealer (i've already had to deal with a couple of my cars due to "creative shortcuts here......mainly, new side panels). Take your time, don't rush anything, think about what your doing, and you'll do fine. Rush it, get impatient, all bets off.

If the front speaker, it's very easy, just remove the four phillips (cross head) screws that hold the cover on. The rear speaker is a bit more involved because the panel that covers it must be removed. Unfortunately, the top of this panel has a portion that goes up under the rear quarter window weatherstrip. I am of the opinion that it is easier to remove this glass than to try and cut underneath the weatherstrip. It really isn't that hard to remove and replace the window. I think you also must remove the upper part of the back seat for clearance (it's been a while since I did it). Cheers.

Just run 2 speakers, or put 6x9s in the hatch. I personally like 2 speaker systems. But whatever route you choose, remember not to rush.

So it's your front speakers your talking about? Those are the joke of jokes to replace. You'll need Porsche special tool P8943 phillips head screwdriver. Let us know what speakers you replace them with - people are always trying to find the best speaker that fits in that shallow space in the door.

OK! I admit it! I posted before I looked. Just assumed because it came from the factory that it would be difficult!

Just ship the car here then. I'll have it fixed for you in a jiffy.

Be sure to include a couple of samples of Australia's finest (those "Wicked Weasel" models would do. . .)
