Looking for 944 in socal area
Hi Folks,
I'm in the market for a 944 (NOT a turbo, please) somewhere near San Diego. This will be a daily driver, so I would prefer a mechanically sound car over a "pretty" car. Manual not an automatic, too. Oh, and if the driver seat were in good condition, that is also a plus.
If anyone has leads, please PM me.
Cheers,
Peter
P.S. I used to own a 928, but realized I didn't need the extra 4 cylinders.

Or the electrical problems, or the cost of bending 32 valves, or the electrical problems, or the incomprehensible maze of hoses at the front of the engine, or the electrical problems, or the impossibility of getting hands/tools into the engine bay to work on them. . .
Oh, there's those 928 electrical problems too.
If you're looking for "mechanically sound" talk to Legoland951. Most of his are in good mechanical shape (he does a lot of work on them) but they tend to be. . . how should I say it. . . a little "rough" aesthetically. Might suit your needs well though. . .

Hi Jeff,
I didn't want to get into the reasons (many) for having someone else adopt the "Money Pit". Let's just say that most of those problems can be solved with major cash infusions and not much else. I'm definitely in the mood for a "simpler" car, and still want to have a Porsche for a daily driver. The honda is a fine car and all that, but it is just BORING.
Besides, for fast-fast-fast, it'll be hard to beat my wife's 964...at least without spending a TON of cash.
Cheers,
Peter

Strange, I just did, and didn't find it. Of course, I'm not looking for a track car, was it hiding in there?
Some clarification: looking for 944 - non-turbo, manual, non-S or S2. Simple daily driver. (picky, picky, I know).
Once I hook up with a 944, I'll be posting pictures, no fear.
Cheers,
Peter

I actually like the 928 bare blocks a bit more than the 944 ones - you can store four extra beer bottles in 'em although the portability of the 944 block "four-packs" is kind of nice also. . . Just have to put better quality beer in the spare 944 blocks.

No worries about the disappearing 944, must have been all the beer/wine stored in the 928 block.
I'll have to start haunting the OT again, are the flame wars dying down again? Oh wait, this is Rennlist OT...never mind.
Cheers,
Peter

I may be moving to Ohio, and If I can find one there, I'll sell you my 85/0 944 I have in San Diego. This eliminates the shipping cost when I move.
She runs great ( putting a new catalytic converter this weekend - damn smog tests ) and the tranny makes noise but still runs great.
I'll even let you have the indash GPS/DVD/Internet/Divx/TV/Radio/etc... for the right price ( carputer worth more than car ).

I know how portable those 944 blocks are...
