Exclamation HELP ME!!!

My 87 944S just suddenly stopped working right. This morning when I got in to drive it to work it was making a clicking noise. The noise seems to be coming from the mid to rear area somewhere. The faster I go the faster the clicking goes. It is very loud. Here is a curveball though. The sound goes away entirely when I push in the clutch. It is doing it in every gear, even reverse. There was no problem yesterday. I parked it and it was running fine. Any thoughts?

Possibly a tt bearing as it's from the mid rear, as you push it you load the bearing making hte distorsion worse, when you put the clutch in you electivly dissengage the TT. If was coming further forward I would suspect a release bearing or possibly a rubber centre clutch but if it's further back then no. If it did it witht he clutch in you would have to think R&P or drive shaft. Thinking about it could be the dreaded pinion!!

CV joints. Check them. You're looking for a torn cv boot. That would be a dead give away. Let us know what you see, then we'll go from there.
