Check it out. This is what we call "collision repair" in Florida.

that's actually a pretty good idea.

how's the alignment now? seems like it'd be kind of off.

either way, nice writeup, heatguns rule, and i doubt that an N/A has enough TQ to pull a tree from it's roots.

$40 is probably less than a hundredth of what you'd have to have paid at a repair shop for them to do basically the exact same thing.

"Yes, that's my car TIED TO A ****ING TREE."

best ever.

One, two, three, four...FIF!

^^^This was all his idea.

951obsession said "alignment." HAHAHHAHAHA...breathe...HAHAHA. My steering rack hasn't had fluid in it since the Clinton administration and the tie rods are about 50% of their stock condition. I let go of the wheel for a nanosecond and the car jumps 4 lanes.

One thing the write-up didn't mention was the overheating whilst in route to get duplicolor for the side skirt. 75ohm and I were at Checker's getting some much needed food when I noticed the temp gauge creeping up. As soon as we paid and pulled out, the idiot light came on so I immediately shut off the car, opened the hood, and got out to inspect. 75ohm stayed in the car. "What's that sound?" he asked.

At which point oil-laden coolant spewed out of the car with all the ferocity a lactose intolerant 10 year old boy must experience after downing two Wendy's Frostys. It was not pretty.

Is this going to hurt your case now that you "repaired" your car?

It more like resembled the scum on top of a water treament plant, pool #1. The car belched rather loudly on several occasions, hence the "wtf was that" question! A rather interesting phenomena, to be honest. Nonetheless, we missed the photo-op to share the techicolor coolant emesis.

hey, i ran my '84 w/o any fluid in the rack, and my P/S pump was SHOT from getting the belt stuck in between the pulley and the pump, and f*cking the seal.

Hahaha, crazy.

I don't see how it was damaged badly enough to keep the hatch from opening. Looked like it was just a collapsed bumper shock, broken side skirt and a dent under the tail lights. The hatch should still have opened unless there was more damage that you didn't show.

Either way, I can't say I wouldn't have done it

Good show! Trees are sturdier than they look, you know.
