Lightbulb Any Interest in a Second Griffin Radiator GB?

Hey everyone,

I know about 50 of you bought a radiator last spring in the Griffin Radiator group buy, but I was just wondering if there was any interest in doing another group buy for Griffin Radiators?

This is nothing official, I am just checking to see if there would be enough interest. Griffin said that they could not start taking orders for a group buy until mid-March, so there is plenty of time to think this over.

I am planning on buying one, and I know of one other Rennlister that wants one. So the list is at 2 right now. Anyone else miss out on the GB that needs/wants a new radiator?

You can PM or post on here if you have any questions, or are interested in the group buy. Griffin cannot give me prices until they know how many people are involved - but remember one thing, Griffin didn’t make any money at all on the last group buy, so expect the price at least a little higher, even for the same number of people.

If there is enough interest - I'll check with John D. to make sure this will be all right. Mark your calendars for mid-March for a rough estimate as to when we could expect to get a GB underway

Last time it was around $385 shipped if I remember right. Our price obviously depends mostly on how many people are going to buy one. The more people that are going to get in on the group buy, the better it will be for everyone.

I'm in and will put cash down asap as my car is offline due to a busted radiator.

Looks like we have 3 people for sure, and 3 people that are somewhat interested? I dont imagine there are that many more people on the list that need/want a radiator, since 50+ Griffin radiators were sold on the GB last time. The more people we get this time, the better the deal will be.

I guess if we get around 5-10 for sure, I'll talk with John D, otherwise it wont really be worth doing a group buy, because the price would likely be the same. If anyone has any questions about the radiators, let me know, and if I dont know the answer, I can get it for you.

Thanks,
Matt

I'm in, pending price (hoping it is around that 385 mark). As soon as price is confirmed I am willing to put a deposit down.

Thanks!

Just curious, but....
If one was planning to do a V8 swap, how does the griffin radiator stack up against the one that RH reccomends? Would it be sufficient to keep a LS-1 or LS-2 cool?

I will try and find this out for you. These are the same size as the stock radiators for the 86-91 turbos for sure. I don’t know if there are any differences between radiators on our cars. I will see if I can find this out.

These radiators are more efficient than the stock ones, but I am not familiar with what you would install for a LS-1/2 transplant. I would assume most people go with a larger radiator? Again, these are the same size as the stock, just they are all aluminum, and flow a little better.

Thanks,
Matt

I don't know exactly what RH's solution is. They say that the 951's rad will almost cut it, so if this is any better than the 951 rad, then it should?... I dunno. I was hoping somebody on here would know (i.e. have used one for this purpose)

I am sidelined because of a leaking radiator also and was thinking of trying to find an all-metal version. I have an 84n/a, was the group buy a turbo only version. Is the radiator different between the n/a and the Turbo or are they the same. If they are not the same what is the difference. In other words can a turbo radiator be used in an n/a and what do you have to do to make it work.

I would be interested but am not sure I have the patience to wait

The radiator I had Griffin fabricate is just for the 944 Turbo. It will not fit a 944 or 944S. At the time I initiated the group buy I offered to prototype a 944/S radiator, but there was not enough interest.
