Planning 944Fest?
It seems to me that Dan is usually well into planning the Fest by this time of year (didn't Chris' countdown start about this time?). Since he's taking a break (well deserved Dan! ), should we start planning it ourselves? Anyone interested?

I was under the impression "we" were still looking for a location. Is this correct?

Well, yes and no. Yes, we are still looking for a location. I am definately reducing my participation. A good friend, Chipster, has an offer in on a 5 acre home near Columbus, a setup very similar to Fishey's awesome place. IF that goes through we were talking about a tame event there. That is a big "IF". There is no way I could out do last year, so I won't even try. IF I do another event, there won't be an artshow, gator rides, probably no dyno (unless participants want to pay for it) and there will be admission $$ to get the food/beer. Last year we sent out several hundred color flyers to Stoddard's water pumper customers, trying to get more folks. Screw that, now I'm ready for less folks!! Quality, not quantity. I doubt the faithful would have any problem with those changes.
I also had a chat with a guy about Nelson's Ledges. This race track is out east of Cleveland in a rural environment and is "rustic" enough to allow overnight camping. Unless we went in with a wad of cash for a Monday or maybe a Friday, we could NOT use the track, just be weekend spectators over in a corner with our cars and tents. There aren't any hotels nearby that I know of.
Other than Chips' deal, unless someone contacted me and said "I have 5 acres and a barn in/near Ohio and I want to have the Fest at my house" I'm pretty tempted to let it slide. I suppose this is bad timing with the FunFest crapping out too, so I'd hate to see that happen.
Considering how non-profit, neighbor-annoying the event is getting to be, maybe that is for the best. Don't get me wrong, no regrets, I've had the time of my life at all of them, but as someone once said "You can only have this much fun so many times before someone gets killed".
What ever happens, I'm going to consult with Tifo first to make sure he has the weekend free.

If people are willing to go to MI instead, I may be able to wrangle a 300 acre farm. It belongs to my partner's mom and is rented out now, but I think the folks are moving. It's near Jackson and we could probably arrange a parking lot for a show and shine on Saturday. We also did a poker run at renntreffen that was a blast (especially since I won it )! I'm happy to help out as much as I can and can understand the need for a "tamer" event.

I'll set up the Road Rally if you do it near Jackson.
A RallyCross would be cool too. If your partner's mom didn't object. We could make it fully legitimate too, with SCCA sanction and all.
Keep the ball rolling.....

I think I could be persuaded to do MI...
We could then hit the Ontario crowd even harder to join the party!

Michigan sounds fun! My parents have a big *** house up there with like a **** load of acres (I think 75). But theres no way in hell theyd want a bunch of 944s there.
Still I wouldnt mind it being in Michigan
