kinda OT - VW Bus sale dilema
I seek the wisdom of the list for guidance...
Thinking I could find a quick resolution to clear out "my old baby" to make room for a new garage, the reciepts and amount of work I've put into her motor have got me doing a double take. Hell, she introduced me to the "Porsche pricing tier" system because the Type4 parts do that. Yes, I know parting the motor is the most profitable way to go but I put soo much into the motor knowing I had the option of putting it into a sand rail or 914. The sand rail is a true money pit--hence a big no go!
My dilema is A) stick to my guns and get about $1200 for the motor, B) hold my breath that I find a nice 914 body because playing with carbs is a lost art, C) locate a very deserving 914 owner that isn't too pickey about a VW power plant.
Here's the write-up.

"o Dometic RM2190 dc/lpg reefer, newest addition!"
Am I the only one confused AND entertained by that note?
Sorry, I don't have any experience to contribute with any value, but it sure sounds like a cool hippie wagon! It'd be nice to own something as old as I am, but I'm saving that for a 78' 930 or Black TA special edition... bird on the hood... yeah...

No prob PSU.
The Bus was my home for the first five years here in San Diego because the destroyer tender I was assigned to was better employed pier side than cutting circles in the local op-area, and I went "home" many nights. Luxuries like a 9" Magnavox color tv w/ remote and indash w/ remote (hard to imagine because they are so common now) made the early 90's seem not very hippieish.
Two trans-contenental trips, a battering but beautiful drive to Cabo (impressive four wheel independent suspension), a couple of trips to Denver, a month long tour of the southwest's natural monuments, and countless dessert/Baja outings, her sentimental glow has finially come to an end. She wasn't dubbed the "stabbin' cabbin'" for the hell of it!!!
ARRRGH! She walks the plank.. to make room for a new (topic friendly) Pcar retirement home!

Stock is 7.3, and the cylinder spacers are set to prevent detonation on crap gas because dropped seats are the #1 killer of type4 heads. A good mag table grinder will zip through the spacers to create a more agressive comp ratio.

I hope you get a good sum for your bus.
Brings back memories of my '72 Dormobile, I had a nice stainless exhaust system that sounded great with the flat 4.....
Maybe get one again some day
Cheers
