I don't believe an 89 cylinder head is any different from the others. It's the bores of the bottom end that are different. I could be wrong though; anyone with '89 motor experience out there?

the bores/valves are bigger and the coolant passage is slightly off IIRC. Makes it more desirable for people turboing 3.0l motors since they have the same size bore w/ a different stroke.

Not having to weld and recut the coolant passage when building an 8V 3.0 Turbo is what most people want from a 2.7 head. Now that more people can make that change to a Turbo head it's lesss of a big deal. The 2.7l head does not have ceramic liners (good or bad depending on your POV) and you do have to do some portmatching for the 951 intake too, but that's no big deal. If people are still trying to get $1800 for a 2.7 head you are probably better off getting a 951 head, welding and remachining the coolant passage, putting in bigger valves, etc. whatever you want.
