Default "nice ferrari"

Says my neighbor today as I get out of the car and arm the alarm. I agree with him, yes, I sure like it. "Is it fast?" "No, not really." "But its a blast in the corners right?" "Hell yes!" "And it looks bad ***" "Oh yeah" Then my phone rang and I went inside.

Yea, if he'd said "Nice Porsche"...

Then of course you'd said it was fast!

I had a similar experience recently at the drive through at Carl's Jr.

The very excited 16 year kid at the window breathlessly says "Is that a Ferrari!?" I said, nicely, "No, it's a Porsche." He then says "Is that a Boxster?" At this point I'm highly amused..."No, it's a 944 Turbo." His reply was "Oh, so that's like a '96 or a '97?" I said "Take about 10 years off of that and you'd be right on."

Maybe I'm just getting old but I always go out of my way to be friendly when kids ask about the car, I remember being in lust with cars like these and I try to do my part not to further the Porsche snob stereotype (although I did know what was and wasn't a Ferrari or a Porsche, even at 15!).

I went in a gas station one day in the 944.
This guy comes up to me (I was 18 probably), probably 18-20.
"So, are you the kind of kid that has daddy buy everything for them?"
"Uhh... I paid for the car, I work my *** off for it, and it was only $5000."
"Oh. Nice car then."

LOL...given the area of the cities I'm in, it varies between "That's very nice for that era of Porsche" to "Why does that badass RX-7 have a euro plate on the front?"

I get confused for an RX-7 every now and then. I did have one kid say "Nice Ferrari" as I left work one day. He probably told his parents and they now think teachers are overpaid...

Haha, one dumb-*** kid called mine a lambo, then after a minute or two of staring at it said 'but I can buy better' and rode off on his beat-*** stolen bicycle.... he was about 8 years old.
*Sigh* is it me or are kids in my neighborhood getting dumber?

Then again, I met a friend at a local domestic repair shop and got complemented on my Mazda.... So, maybe it's not just the kids.

I had a guy pull up beside me in a late 80's toyota camry. He says " is that a real prsche?" I told him "no its a rx7 with a body kit....dumb a$$" then i smoked the wheels in 1st, 2nd, and chirped 3rd. (then i went home checked everything out and kicked myself for being a dumb a$$)

I think the NA in red, with the old school spring bumpers in front looks very Pininfarina-inspired! Love the lines of our cars! That's why I put up with all the crap!

If someone called my car an RX7, I'd grab them, plant their face on the hood, and demand (in my best bad guy dude from the Simpsons voice) "Check the crest, dude....it's a Por-shaaaa"!

no you didn't...NAs don't have enough power to spin through 1st and 2nd much less chirp 3rd unless the rubber is hard as a rock or the roads were soaked; not to mention the engine probably isn't putting out what it used to....

Two weeks after i got the GTO i was getting gas when a guy in a new bmw pulls up. Is that the new one he asks. Yep i say. I was looking into one of those when i got this, i bet that is pretty fast he says.

It better be i said, because it has a vette motor under the hood. Yeah i guess it is pretty fast with the six he told me, he then asked if it was straight or Vee. Yeah, it is fast if i push it, but i didnt get it for that, i got it for the nice interior and the handling i told him.

if gas wasnt so expensive that nozzle would have been somewhere other than in the rear end of my car!!!

I remember sitting at A&W looking at my car through the window. I parked right up in the spot closest to the glass. To small kids and their dad (one must have been 8 and the other about 10) were naming all the cars in the lot. I'll be damned... They point to my car and call out 944! I couldn't believe it! They only got a good look at the nose and they named it.

The kicker was when they pointed to my friend’s 300ZX Turbo and had no clue what it was. “911” the younger kid said. “No I don’t think so” said the older brother. The look on my friend’s face was PRICELESS. (He dislikes German automobiles due to their mechanic-unfriendly designs). I wish I had a camera with me!

Heh...that's what I was thinking! I have a new DF clutch and I can only spin 2nd on a really good (cold) day when the hamsters under the hood are feeling frisky! Then again, I'm on 225/16's...so I'm thinking the only way an N/A could chirp 3rd is some combo of a *very* healthy 150whp engine, shoddy 15" tires, a brand new clutch, and damp roads. lol.
