Okay, its really 20 years old, but it sure looks new.

Here we see Jason giving me a big thumbs down as I steal his car:

When it comes to tow vehicles for the mountains in mid-winter, our philosophy was Go Big and Get Home....

Its best to tow a turbo with a turbo(diesel).

Jason's...no, wait, MY car rolls off the trailer to begin its new life north of the border. Hopefully, it will be a longer life than my last one....

Our first stop is to pay our respects to the local 951 horsepower king, Ian's black 89 (temporarily out of commision for revalved Koni's and Racers Edge camber plates.) Ian and Owain watch to make sure the new kid on the block is properly respectful...

Outside, we stop to greet our near-twin, Owain's Guards Red '87 951, also originally from Washington State....

(Ian would like us all to notice the white Dodge Colt, his winter beater, and be properly respectful of its racing heritage.)

Thanks for the car, Jason, it is a beauty!

That is a gorgeous find! I checked some ads from Washington state before I got mine in Vanc. but was wary of all the import hassles and taxes and duties and...well, hassle! That car looks really well kept...lucky @#$%^&* ...lol!!

My car is originally a Canadian car and I have it in Florida. How weird is that? Nice car.

Just wondering how much hassle it was to import the car from the US. Looks like you got yourself a beauty.

That's a great buy, definitely! Those wheels are HOT!

You'll have to excuse me if I...accidentally...go to get in the wrong car at the next BBC

Thanks for the nice comments. The wheels are HRE 543Rs, 3 piece forged, very nice. Also came with white 8" phone dials all round for track wheels.

Importing it was no big deal. It is much simpler if the car is more than 15 years old. Jason worked with me to get all the paperwork to US customs several days in advance of importation, so it was pretty smooth. To import it, I had to pay 7% GST, 6.1% duty, $100 A/C excise fee and $244 service fee. I still need a provincial safety inspection to register it, when I get to pay another 7% sales tax. Fortunately, the insurance settlement on my last car included GST and PST, so I am really only out of pocket on the duty.

Jet951, the trailer was a rental. 18' enclosed, but it was heavy (about 4,400 pounds empty, according to the highway scales) and towed like a brick. I was glad that my brother provided his "little truck" as a tow vehicle. The specifications for the trailer stated that it was 3,000 pounds empty; I have concluded that all trailer and camper manufacturers lie about empty weights. Sure nice to have an enclosed trailer in winter, though.

I'm serious, that is his daily driver. It has a 6.6 L Isuzu turbo-diesel (300 HP/550 ft-lbs) and a six speed manual tranny. It got over 16.5 mpg (imperial gallons, of course) or about 5.9 km/L towing 7500 pounds (15,000 pounds combined weight) through the mountains. I don't consider that too bad at sucking down petrol.

His "big" truck is a Kenworth turbo-diesel, 550 HP/1650 ft-lbs, 15 speed manual, which he uses to haul B-trains (tandem semi-trailers) through the mountains. 75 foot overall length, 140,000 pounds legal weight limit. Definitely the big one!

so whats been done to the car? i see its got wheels and sparco seats(very nice).
Lets see: GURU chips at 16 psi, TiAL 38 mm wastegate, Bursch 2.5" test pipe, B&B 2.5" SS catback, Paragon coil-over strut kit with Koni single adjustables and Eibach 300 pound springs, Ground Control camber plates, 968 M030 30 mm front sway bar, 25.5 mm torsion bars, 968 M030 single-adjustable Koni rear coil-overs, Weltmeister 22 mm adjustable rear sway bar, Weltmeister spring plate bushings (I think; have to check that), Toyo RA-1 track tires on 8" phonedials all round, Reddline bolt-in roll bar, Sparco Evo 2 seats, G-Force 6 point harnesses.

The suspension is recent and feels well balanced and tight. I am surprised at how comfortable it is around town with the stiffer suspension and race seats. I swear it isn't as harsh as my stock '89 was. It also has full maintenance records from new (3 owner California/Washington car), recent clutch and half shafts. The interior is at least as nice as the exterior, and it came with the stock partial leather seats so my wife and I can go touring.

This car came with what I considered to be an ideal set-up for a dual purpose touring and DE/autocross car. After the stock '89, I was ready for a nicely modded car, and for me this was it.

Damn it!@!#!@$&(@!*$&!)#@$&)(@$)!@&$)@!#$

OK, got that out of my system, It's like seeing your ex-girlfriend getting drilled by another guy......doh!

Don scored a great car, I've not seen any in the NW much nicer, if at all.
It's got tons of goodies all over it, it's really benifitted from all the cars I've parted out along other great upgrades.

Don,
It was a pleasure dealing with you on this, I hope you have many trouble free miles ahead.

Cheers,
Jason
Here is a old photo, a little photochopped, by a cool picture anyways.

I think I will keep the equal-sized tires on at all times. That way, it shouldn't matter so much if I am going around the corner forwards or backwards!
