You looked long and hard for the S2...unless you hate the ride, or are sick of it, I say keep it and put some miles on it!

And as for a 968 cab, in 1990 I liked the looks of the RX7 convertible better, and I haven't changed. I cant get past that piece of plastic on the rear quarter. not knocking the car, it just bugs me, almost as much as the huge gap between the RX7 trunk and taillights.

ive gone through three or four examples of different cars in the last few days. Like what my buddy said about my girlfriends "who is the flavor of the week this week".
now i am thinking a miata. but do i look for a low mile super clean one like one i saw advertised with 30k miles for 8k, or one with 150k for 4k. now i have to research packages available to decide what i want to look for, and not change my mind....again.
if i wrap the S2 around a guardrail at watkins i am out less than if i do it in a 911.

As one who has lived with an S2 track car, I can tell you that they make GREAT track cars. They are MUCH safer than a Miata as track cars. They are a great compromise as street/DE cars. Maintenance on a 911 is much higher as you know.
My advice is keep the S2. It is getting very hard to find good examples of S2s.

I just found out that i bought a $800 RX7 automatic. i posted about it about a month or so ago. WTF am i going to do with another RX7? Anyone local need a commuter car? I was going to throw it in my parents driveway for two years till the lease on my GTO is up.

I think you should keep the S2. The 911 won't be much of an upgrade for the DE situation. The S2 is perfect if you go somewhat infrequently (IE less then 10 times/year). Great car to really learn to drive all out very quickly., unless of course you are already there.

I thought for sure I would sell my 951 when I bought my 993 just 2 years ago. I put an ad on cars.com and got sellers remorse within the first week of conversations with potential buyers. My advice - keep the S2 for DE and if you MUST spend money on S2 - put it into the suspension. When you sell the Firebird - buy a 95 993 - I'm assuming you'll be in the high 20s/low 30s budgetwise. Or get an 87-89 911 for about 10k less. That was my original gameplan but I lucked out with my 993 because the PO was a good friend of the family and the price was right !

I am supposed to get a 700 or 800 RX7 this sunday, which i hope to flip for the same $$ very quickly. buyers remorse before i even saw the car. I may look for a super clean low mileage miata since a clean one is 8k and a dog is 2k. that should keep me out of the bars for a while. then if i get tired of the miata after one season i can get most of my $$ back. every time i think about getting into a car i have to spend as much time thinking about how i will get out of it. I looked into Z3s on cars. com, but a miata is half the price, and probably easier to dump. what i really should get, but want to wait till i can get "classic" insurance is a 3 series drop top 92 or newer with the sport package and a manual.
in 91 i was looking into a miata when i got the RX7 convert. the day i sold the RX7 my wife asked me if i would miss it. "If i do, i will get a miata" was my answer. I dont miss it, but dont want all the firebird $$ to disappear into the home equity never to be seen again.
I think my daughter at age 3 is old enough to go for a ride in a miata with the top down.

Miatas are fun, but they have no power. It would be fun at AX and driving around town, which I guess is what you think you would want it for. They are also pretty easy to get rid of. I always had trouble fitting in my friend Brian's (6'2"). Hey, you could even get the bug for spec pinata!
