Sweet. I just thought because they have a lot of v6's from around that time. And being german and all..

Well Here's my last guess, and it's only because i have a reason and it's not just throwing names out..

Volvo. I say this because I've heard rumors that the DOHC head on the 16 valve 740's were made from help from porsche, similar to the 944/968 engine head.

Granted, that is a few years later than we are talking, but maybe they had ties earlier? I don't know since they aren't german though... any dice? Or is it another sweedish company?

I know one of them was the PRV motor, don't know the other.

EDIT: I guess it's BMW.

Audi 2.2 20V Turbo fits to 924/931 block without major issues.

What is that 4-cyl engine?
One engine is in RS2 and is 5cyl regular 2.2 20V with a little Porsche know-how inside and RS2 uses Porsche 4-pot Brembo brakes too.

BTW: here's a nice example how to make V8 conversion worthwhile: http://924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=...37be2eb0a54a58

A BMW 325 engine is a neat idea. I might have to explore that. Parts are all over the place, everything can be done to them...interesting.

I have nothing against them in principal, the halfassed cobbled together ones are what I despise, and theres enough of them like that....

That, and many of the posters on that other forum dont really present themselves as shining examples of intellegence. They rant and rave about people here, and stick themselves in a textbook "Pot calling the Kettle black" situation.

BMW 325 engine is straight six and is too long for reasonable clearance. You'll have to move radiator more forward.

I was told by a Kirby vacuum salesman after he saw the 3 P-cars in the driveway that the transmission within the Kirby vacuums was designed by Porsche.

woohoo. now maybe I'll look further into the 16 valve volvo thing. I haven't heard anyone say they knew actual details or if ti was even true. Where did you read/hear about porsche testing with volvo and bmw 6's?

BMW hasn't made a V-6, only straight 6 engines.

It was a straight 6 they were experimenting with, and I beleive it necessitated a buldged hood.

A combination of publications (Excellence was Expected, a acouple old 924/944 books I have, and a few magazines from the 80's).

Was he trying to say Porsche's suck?
