congrats rock! where are you living now? you should change oil a couple of times during break in period. i know with my engine oil was to be changed at 250, 500, 1000, 1500, and 3000. probably a bit different for your type of motor, but im sure it will need to be changed at least 2 or 3 times before break in is done. either way, oil is cheep, engines are not.. best to be safe.

Hi all! I've got some more info on the car. I bought it in the summer of 1999 in Downey, CA. I was looking for something to use for a track car. My buddy had one and I wanted one. After I purchased the car I talked to my mechanic about costs for engine rebuilds and race prep I decided to convert my 914 into a 914-6 and turn it into a full-time race car. I loved the power of the 944 turbo so I kept it and used it for a while as my daily driver. After a short while I drove the car to Indy and parked it in my garage. I was living in LA at the time on a boat in King Harbor and had too many cars there. I bought the Boxster S wheels that are pictured on the car above and mounted them on the car about a year and a half later when I drove it back to LA. It was pretty much my daily driver again until it caught fire while driving it in Indy. I was less than a mile from my house when it caught fire. It looked a fuel line may have ruptured and sprayed fuel on the exhaust. It didn't take long to burn, but the fire department that was 2 1/2 blocks away couldn't respond to the call because they were already on a run, so another house had to make the call and they were 5 minutes away. It's nice to see the car up and running again. Good job.
