Hmm, lets see. I got a 951, 2 914's , 2 old MB turbo diesels, a 73 Beetle, oh and an '02 Ranger XLT in my "yard". I worked 11 hrs yesterday at my job (paint, bodywork & restoration) and I go to school fulltime taking paint & body repair, frame repair, plastics and adhesives, electrical repair, damage estimation, etc, etc.

Oh and I spend a sizable chunk of my extra time on Rennlist.

But I'm not addicted. It's now 4:23 AM

I'm more addicted to guitars and amps! I check ebay daily for a great deal on a guitar, even though I have 5 at this point!

I had one 944, sold it, bought another. And I can safely say this 944 will be my last. Unless I get a great deal on a 993, there probably wont be a Porsche in my future after this car.

Andy,
My brother has a 74 strat that needs a mechanical refurb. who do you know that does A1 work around here? He just found out the that black strat he got 25 years ago for $250 is worth $3000!!!!

He put up a fight to get bar mitzvah'd once. now he says if he knew he would have gotten bar mitzvah'd twice!

and i could have gotten a dozen like that at the time but instead bought door panels for my firebird that i cant sell for what i have into it. On the bright side, you can store your whole addiction in a closet.

Hey Andy,

Why no P-car in your future? Just curious.

Thanks!

I limit my toy cars to one at a time. Prior to the 944S2, I had a 2nd Gen Toyota MR2. And while I know of two separate 914's I'd love to own (one needs major work, the other is pretty much setup for the track already), I'm better off just focusing on my P-car.

Now about addicitions: are these a sign of an addiction?
-Spending $5000.00 to replace a cracked head on a $8000.00 car..
-Planning to spend $3000.00 on a suspensino for said car...
-When getting a support call at 1am in the morning, I'm still in the garage polishing the car...
-When planning family vacations, the DE schedule takes priority...
-I'd rather buy el-cheapo tires for my daily driver, since I can 'swing' that $$ towards a set of track tires for the 944S2...
-Can't remember the last time I changed the oil on my DD Subaru, but the oil in the Porsche, at any given time is a lovely shade of 'fresh oil' gold...

Yeah, the needle in deeply imbedded in my vein...

I went for the cold turkey approach:

Sold cars (968, 951, GTI)
Sold Spare parts (man was that a pain the ***)
Sold Tools (parting with a tool chest was a very emotional moment for me, and every now and then I wake up in a cold sweat wondering if the new owner cleaned the rachets before putting them away).
Moved to a place where owning a car was just stupid......

End result, I am still obsessed, I still lurk here on rennlist, I look at ebay, craigslist (in 4 cities), autotrader, autoweek, etc etc trying to keep the habit from dying off completely. Before too long a deal will come up and I will just have to buy something.

So yes, I am an addict who is really jonesing for a fix.

Anyone want to let me drive a P-car at a NY/NJ Auto-x in the spring? Please, you know you want to..... Hell I'll drive a rental mustang if I have to.

Would I be classified as an addict if I tapped into my kids college fund to buy car parts?

Oh crap. Now that I see that in writing...that is SO wrong...

that's what i thought until i realized "hey, i had the 951 before i thought about any kids"

or "hey, all the money you put into a kid can afford you a 996TT w/700-800 hp by the time they're 18"

now i feel so bad for depriving my dad of wonderful cars........

Mrs. Z-man and I were recently discussing having children. (We are DINK's for the past 11 years now). She flatly stated, "You know, Zoltan, that if we have children, all this (referring to ALL things Porsche) goes away. Gone. Completely."

To that, I replied, "Yes, I know dear. We're not having any kids."

I only say this because unless I can spend $35-$40k on a nice 993, I don't want another 944/968 to dump money into again. Two is enough! Can't afford a NEW CaymanS, Boxsters are too small, so I am assuming no more P-cars, 993 being the only hope.

I used to have a RX7 convertible to drive, a Firebird converitible to look at, a 944 to drive etc. and a very big house

Now the firebird is for sale, the RX7 is gone, the porsche is barely there.... the house is for sale to get a smaller one so there is more $$ to spend on the one that gives me an awesome greeting which includes wiping a runny nose on my pant thigh every time i come home. Is that schnotties on your leg or did you .... ?

Tough decision,

Yeah... the turbo I was pursuing was sold, so now I'm looking at other, more expensive turbos... it's rough... I feel the sense of urgency, even though there is none....

these cars are like Pokémon... gotta catch em all.

Hi Im Tom and I too have a problem. I truly learned the extent of my problem when my sons pre-school teacher asked why my son Nick(5yrs) was so excited to pick the color of the "Race Car" for the evenings drive to soccer practice. She thinks Im nuts anyway.

I went down hill badly went I started racing...
... there is always and excuse to get an old beat-up wreck, 'cuse it has a spare motor, block, left side mirror all to make it worth it.

That I have 3 parts cars... , plus two running Porsches, and two daily drivers (one for me and one for my wife). Luckily I get to "Borrow" the tow vehicle from my father. This of course after I sold one 944 already...

Nope... I don't have problem... I am quite normal.... aleast that is what I keep telling my wife.
