I may be replacing my front wheel bearings. Instructions on Clark's Garage say to heat the hubs to 250*F in an oven for .5 hrs minimum. Will the women of the household hate me for doing so? Adverse effects on the oven/kitchen?

My guess is "probably so," but it can't hurt to ask, right.

Dude - who's oven is it? Wife or mother??
If its your mother's, don't touch it.
If its your wife's, do the hubs, then powder coat your motorcycle frame when you're done.

I mounted mine by hammering them in. It's possible, but Clark's method is probably easier. I used large sockets to spread the pressure, and avoid nicks.

They wont hate you as bad as washing your coolant reservoir in the kitchen sink and using their dish towels to dry it. Either way, I wouldn't recommend it. Don't use your Mom's or your Wife's, if you know what's good for you.

I had a buddy of mine clean all his engine parts in the dish washer. His wife could not figure out for the longest time why the dishes kept coming out with grease on them.
To say she was a little upset when she found out why would be a major understatement.

I heated my hubs in the oven when I replaced the wheel bearings. The races literally dropped right into the hub but I gave them a few wacks with the hammer anyways. I froze the bearings over-night. Just make sure the hubs are super clean, not even a speck of dirt anywhere. I didn't have any funny smells or bad tasting food.

I just did mine last Thursday. Baked the hub for 1 hr and cooked a Turkey on New Years eve. They didn't even notice.

I did leave the oven door open all day when I was done with the hubs.

I cleaned and degreased mine completly. No smells, or anything odd

I havent taken car parts near the dishwasher. Its fairly new, so I know that if I get some greasy nasty gunked up car part in there, ill most likely be drawn and quatered.
