Default Twin Pipe Exhaust: True Love?

I am absolutely HOOKED on the sound of that car, and inquired to purchase the cat omit pipe and twin-pipe exhaust, and ship it here to USA. $1200 USD Anyone know a way for me to duplicate that sound for cheaper? I'd like to go stainless since my pipes have been cut up and welded far too many times. Currently, theres a busted magnaflow muffler mounted with a partially clogged cat.

Get quotes for a similar system from muffler shops? I suppose you already thought of that though.

Where do you plan on running the second pipe? and why? It looks like the car in the video has the single.

It's a dual tip single exhaust, from the looks of the image on the page he linked to.

Yep, dual tip. I suppose running a twin might not work anyways. I'd get a quote but I'm afraid I'll end up with a ricey sounding exhaust.

That's also an S2 with a 3.0L engine. Significantly more "oomph" and airflow than our 2.5s at the low end.

True dual exhausts are only needed or nessasary on V-8's and really high strung 4's and 6's. Lower the backpressure to much and you lose some power. I'd go with a 3 inch single and dual tips if you like the look.

The dual pipes tips probably have little if any effect on the sound. The rest of the system, mainly the muffler, will have much more influence over the sound.

I've always thought it would be cool to do a dual-pipe setup on a turbo though, with the 2nd pipe being an open exhaust off the wastegate.

Word of advice -- don't spend $1200 on any exhaust system. That's a ridiculous price.

Right on, if you only have one header, you only need one exhaust.

Well, We technically have a 4-2-1 and you could just go off of the 4-2 and make it 2 pipes to back of the car. However, I am not sure of the effects of doing this with two smaller pipes instead of one large one. However, it could be done but I don't see the point.

Even still, you'd probably still need a "X" pipe to connect the two pipes, similar to what a V8 needs.

I'll be running two turbos and one exit pipe, 4"!

Running two pipes instead of one large one is sometimes a best option for ground clearance reasons. The S2 and 968 had that setup.
