Default how to clean coolant reservoir?

How do I clean the milkshaky goodness out of the reservoir? I've rinsed it a dozen times with dish soap and water and there is still junk in there. Any suggestions, or is the box hosed?

There was a thread on here a while back about somebody cleaning one pretty effectively. Honestly, I would just get a new one. I am sure that isn't what you wanted to hear.

I just cleaned mine out. After removing it from the car, use hot water and Shout or Spray-n-Wash and let it work for awhile. It may be best to add the nonfoaming detergent to the tank while it is still in the car and run it for a few days, then flush the cooling system a couple times. That way, all the oil gets flushed from the system. I hear a new tank costs $120!!

Where do you get a new one and how many millions of dollars would it be?

I got mine from lindsey racing a few years ago. Paragon has them for $137. Ouch. Mine was $12 cheaper when I got it. But, I broke down and bought one and have been happy ever since, because I can actually see the coolant level. I am also kind big into just replacing stuff even if it doesn't need it, because if it started leaking or something at the track I would probably blow a gasket on my body, not the car

Well, if it needs to be replaced, Sunset might be the cheapest place to get it. I guess I can fork over a hundred bucks if this thing won't clean itself.

Shout is what highly-skilled Porsche wrenches use. That's the ticket...

Add some dish washer detergent and drive around then do a complete flush and refill, then drive some more then do another complete flush and refill. Done!

Dave, I must give "Shout" a try next time around.

It's still a pain task. Took 3 wash/rinse cycles in the 944, then still showed a couple of globs in the system for a year until next flush/fill. Is one of the hardest bloody things to clean out of a coolant system, no doubt.

Well hot water and dish soap (lots of dish soap) failed miserably after many attempts. Buying a brand new tank since I'd rather not have that crud in my engine.
