Default knocking noise coming from center of the car

something is knocking when i am driving... I have no idea what it could be but my dad thinks its the torqe tube. A little history is that it has around 166000 miles on it, its been sitting in the garage parked for almost a year. We have driven it for almost an hour and a half, once for a local PCA meet and another when we got it. If it helps, when at a stop it makes no noise, the faster you go the faster the knocking. the car is going into the shop next week we are taking it to mayo or ruf. its 88' (I dont know what ot call it other than base model 944 not s or s2 or turbo or turbo s) needs rear susspension and brake work so that could be the problem. Thanks for any help in advance!

FLanderhol-

My car made a similar sound. Turned out to be CV joints and one of the hubs was bad.

I would guess CV too. Because you are moving, it can be really hard to tell where the "sound" is coming from. If you can, reach under the rear end and try and move the CV left and right. (while the car is NOT moving) Also look for rips in the boots. Usually the driver’s side inner is the first to go as it is close to the exhaust. Clarks Garage has a great writ up on this check it out http://www.clarks-garage.com/
Good luck..
