With the coming baby, it looks like the wife and I will be getting rid of both 'toy' cars and moving into boring practical world. I'll be offering my car for sale here as I don't really want to e-bay it. I know it may be more realistic after Tax Time and I can wait....Or will trade for good Mini-van/Volvo wagon.....
Details:
1988 non-S 951.
150,000 miles.
Black on Linen
Cup II replicas wheels 7.5 and 9 x 17 with recent Fuzions.
Recent headgasket with all new gaskets above the head (compression is 130-135 at all 4). The belts will be redone before selling.
Autothority MAF with stage II chips
Tial 38mm with MBC ( installed in Lindsey gauge panel under stereo).
A-pillar gauge pod with Autometer ProComp Boost/Vac gauge and norrowband AFR (I have original a-pillar if you want to remove the gauges.
Momo Trek steering wheel (Original still available) and Momo shift **** with SFR short throw lever.
H&R 220lb front springs (1" lower)
Koni sport rear shocks
Vented stock nose panel.
GT racing front splitter.
Iceshark batery cable set (both positive cables and engine ground along with Cibie E-code lenses with 55/60 bulbs)
Pioneer DEH-4700 Cd player (Includes aux input cable for I-pod or satellite radio)with 4x6 Planet Audio speakers in the doors and 6x9 in the rear cubbies.
I have the Arnnworx belt tools with Kricket, repair manual and PET5 on CD, Porsche technical manual, and some other stuff I will include like spare alternator and rebuildable starter. There's some other stuff still floating around I need to find.
The paint is probably 6 out of 10 with the usual stone chips up front and on the mirrors. The drivers seat is worn and split in a couple of places. Rear hatch carpet was removed due to wear. I have a black one in place now.
Asking $8k but negotiable within reason.
Dyno was done before Tial and MBC install.

First child and a son.
The wife currently has a 2001 Mustang which is woefully impractical as we can't fit crap into teh trunk. We're looking to sell both vehicles and get her a decent mini-van type thing and I'll be getting into something I won't have to work on as often.
Hopefully in a few years, I can get back into P-cars but we need to get over this hurdle first and make sure we do everthing right.
I hope to be dropping him off at Kindergarten in a 968 or 928 GT....

Ha! I just disabled the airbags in my 951 so I could carry my 8 month old daughter in it. If you need a cool family wagon, look into an Audi UrS6 Avant, circa 1995. 20v turbo motor, chipped it makes close to 300hp, plenty of space for stuff too. Kinda wish I'd bought one instead of the S4, which is really too small, small enough that I'm thinking about trading it for an All-Road...

Daniel graduated from Florida. +50 points.
What about the retension interval on the belts? That will depend on when the car is sold, correct?
I'd totally buy this one in a heart beat. So much nicer then my pile of trash. Well taken care of too.

Anyways, an s4 avant is my dreamcar - it does everything well. No worries, my legacy gets me to the mountains for now. I love awd.
Respectable decision streck - gotta please the streckfrau.

Dan,
As someone that walked in your shoes three years ago, let me make a few suggestions.
Dont sell the 51 just yet, sell the mustang.
Look for a nice used american sedan like the impala, aurora, bonneville etc. They depreciate like rocks. I sold my 01 aurora msrp 37k with 28k on the clock for a whopping 12k last summer. you get the idea.
when my daughter was born three years ago we had the aurora and i had the red S2 and the RX7 convertible. i sold the RX because i didnt see any two seat weekend jaunts coming for a good three years. i kept the red S2 as my daily till it was stolen and replaced it with the camaro. the camaro was able to fit a baby seat in teh rear and with teh big doors etc. it was fine for the occasional trip, and i stress the occsional part. just like the gto that replaced it.
as long as you have one big car for the three of you, you can drive a small car.
the repairing part, well thats another story, and why i am selling the firebird convertible. i just dont want to spend the 40 hours it needs to be done.

Thanks for the words, Tom.
As much as I would like to keep the 951 as my daily driver, I really feel the need to get something I won't have to work on very often. For the most part the car is very good but I want to make things as easy and inexpensive as possible so I can put my money to work elsewhere. Without being able to anticipate expenses over the next few years, I want to free up as much funds as reasonable to put into the baby fund and newly created college fund. I want to free up as much debt as possible and once we get past these first few years and are able to breath again, I may look into another 'fun' car.
Life will be busy and expensive as it is, I may as will simplify what I can.
