Default Camshaft housing bolts (need more space!)

Got a leak from the camshaft housing, leaking all over the oil filter, oil cooler and exhaust header 1 and 2.

I was able to remove all the bolts, two of which are a pain (middle ones) since the suspension chassis is in the way.

I used a 1/2" ratchet with a 6" long 6mm allen socket, problem is, the torque wrench is much beffier than the ratchet (both 1/2" and 3/8" torque wrenches).

I almost rounded one of those two annoying bolts for the camshagt housing.

Anyone has any tips for this? there is very little room for a torque wrench in that spot.

TIA

I haven't actually removed those bolts, but the attached photo shows the clearance using a Stahlwille tool 2049. It's about 4" long. Plenty of room for a torque wrench, though it seems a little tight for the rear-most bolt.

Actually, a shorty allen socket with a 3" extension and or adapter would work fine in there. I don't have all those high class tools like 6" sockets and such, lol.

3/8" socket with a swivel, and 6" extension.

Thanks everyone

Went to the hardware store, got myself a 6mm 3/8" drive allen socket, allong with a 3" and a 6" extention just incase.

Got more room now, however, when i used allen keys to remove the bolts, one key actually broke and is now stuck in the bolt.

So now, i am off again to get a drill bit that can drill into hard steel

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you, and you're family

Is any of the allen key sticking out of the hex head? If it is you may be able to put a 6mm socket over it to try to get out.

Good Luck

That or you could turn it out with Visegrips.

No go, it sits flush with the bolt and i can't get a good grip.

I just torqued everything back together, and tomorrow i am off to the machine shop (with the car) and hope he could tack weld a rod and just pull it out (or something).

Note: Drilling is worthless when it comes to hardened steel!

Tap the side of the bolt with a hammer to free it up by stressing it, then it should just come out with a magnet. Good luck

Well, after spending 2-3 hours trying to take it out, it wouldn't budge.

Went to the machine shop, they tack welded a rod in there, and just pulled it out. Took 2 mins in total....charged me AED 30 (around $8) for this.
