Question 944 with skirt

Happy Holidays to all. Quick question I want to add the side skirts from a 951 to my 944. The car has the thread bolts that anchor the skirts on to the car. The problem is no matther how tight I screw the skirt into place, I can see a gap between the skirt and the bottom of the car. Has anyone else had this problem reattaching the side skirts. Below is a picture of the skirts and a 941 with them attached.

There was an article in Excellence this year where they did this. I don't have that issue but someone here may be able to point you in the right direction.

I know on mine I went to adjust them and found that there is a flexible sealant between the skirt and rocker that was installed during fit-up to seal small gaps. I was hoping to get the rear of the skirt to fit closer to the body but it just isn't designed to be flush for some reason...every 951 I've seen has been this way. I hope someone finds that article and scans it. I'm still waiting to scan this one.

I think i have that article somewhere, either that i read it in the store when they had it...i cant remember. Im looking for it now though. I do remember them saying its was a major pain in the butt to get it fitted.

Edit - I cant find it in any of my folders, i probably read it in the store, so the issue has to be no more than a year old.

It isn't addressed in the article, so I wouldn't bother.
I added the skirts to my old '85.5, they bolted up fine and there was no space. Try fiddling with the mounting tabs on the skirts, as well as the bolts that are attached to the unibody; they can easily become bent over ~20+ years.
And as Steve notes, the underbody sealant can be 'goopy' so you may need to scrape some off.
Just keep working them until they fit.

I have Excllence magazines dating back to 1999. Could they be in there? I know there was one about installing the rear turbo valance on a white 1988 944 NA.

Again. You don't need the article.
However if you feel you must have it, it is the May 2005 issue #137.

thanks guys i'll keep at it. All the mounting points are there and in good shape. Do you know what type of sealant I should use between the skirt and the body?
