I've yet to meet a lifter that wouldn't shut up. Most of them after 50 miles at most. Had one in dad's 951 that refused to quiet even after about 150 miles. I put a half bottle of Marvel Mystrey oil in the oil and it was quiet apon operating temp. Been quiet since. Good luck

I've never seen a lifter actually fail. In all of the ones I've seen they just get plugged up.
Now, if you were fiddling around with it, that could cause problems, and if you think this is the reason, I'd replace it just to be on the safe side.

ATF, like Risolone and Marvel Mystery oil, are low viscosity lubricants that are also high in detergents. Since ATF is not formulated to run in engines, it should only be used for short periods.
