Default Advice needed: Cooling Fans Constantly Running...

I am about to place an order for some drive belts, and thought I might also attempt to resolve an issue. My S2 cooling fans run constantly--as soon as I turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position, the fans come to life. This isn't that big of a deal, really, but I would not mind having them operate as they should, of course.

So, is there a simple relay or switch that might be causing this behavior? The problem began around a month ago, not too long after I flushed the radiator. Any leads are appreciated.

Happy Holidays to all of you Rennlisters!

There are two potential culprits. The cooling fan relay or the thermo switch in the radiator. With the fans running, disconnect the thermo switch in the radiator. It is located on the drivers side below one large and one small hose. Probably easier to reach it from below. If the fans stop, the switch is bad. If they keep running, the relay is bad.

Merry Christmas!

This subject comes up a lot. A search of the forum yields:

Default $136 for a relay? Whew!

Thanks for your responses, guys! I certainly do hope it is the switch! The best price I have found on the fan relay is $136!!! What in the world!?!? For a relay? When I posted this thread, I was expecting it to be a $10 to $15 fix..... but with Porsche, you never know. Please be the switch, please be the switch, please be the switch. This is my mantra.
