Anyone wanna take a guess how much snow chains are from the dealer?

Hmmmm, according to the owners manual for my 89 S2 (same body layout as a turbo), the specified snow tires are 205/55/R16 88Q M+S, and chains must only be fitted to 205/55/R16 88Q M+S. That was in 89, so newer chain designs may work with less clearance between the tire and body. Based on the owners manual it appears that clearance may be an issue. Personally I would check it out before leaving home. Jack up the car so that both wheels are in their normal position, fit the chains and spin the wheels up to 25mph. Additionally if you are taking your car in serious snow country be prepared for rock and window chips and of course the occasional really really stupid driver. A tow strap and the towing eye bolt that screws into the grill would also be good to bring along. --Roy--

Yep, no tell'n when I just might bolt out to a local resort where chains might be required, risk all the hard work I've done to yet another inattentive/"confident" suv owner. Uummm, f##ck no! Get a rental with insurance, shear off a couple of road-side sapplings, drive it back, and walk away.
If you feel the need to drive the 951 to the "resort" for the status factor, stand by for a couple of laughs.
