safer headlights?
http://www.geocities.com/midlife66/w...ays.html?20056 has anyone hooked up a relay system with their headlights? the page i posted is on a mustang. i was hoping someone had info on how to do this to the 944. i already bought soem relays. i wasnt able to find the relay connector that you mount to the firewall liek in the pictures. what all would be different to make this work on a 944? thats all i can think of for now.

Dan's kit bypassed the headlight switch. He ran the headlights power directly off the alternator instead of through the headlight switch first. He used relays and a connection with the stock harness to trigger everything with the stock switch however.
That Geocities link only is able to transfer so much bandwith before it gets shut off. You will need to wait about 24 hours until its available again i think.

link is up.....they have it coming off of the starter solenoid(ford mounts theirs on the inner fender) i think the mustang they are showing has seperate headlights for high and lows....how would you set it up for a combined headlight? did iceshark do anythign to run the foglights on relay? do 944 foglight switches tend to mess up?

Do a search on here for 'Iceshark' and you will find a bunch of information.
Dan's kits did not completely bypass the headlight switch. They used the switch and factory drivers side harness to trigger the relays, but the 'hot' side of the relays are powered strait from the alternator using 4ga. fine strand welding wire. I have a really nice schematic of his kit that I'll have to find a way to get scanned, but its pretty strait forward. After each relay, split the wire to 2 wires, feeding 1ea. to each headlight, so each lamp gets a low and a high. From the H4 connectors, the ground is harnessed upstream about 25 inches then it connects to the factory headlight ground locations. Some Iceshark kits use an adjustable voltage regulator (mine doesn't, so I was planning on getting one here: http://bartonharness.com/AdjustableVoltage.html )
www.rallylights.com sells Hella brand relays pre-harnessed, along with lamps and bulbs.

I used the external voltage regulator from barton and it works great! and the length of the cable is just right to mount the regulator over on the fender well with the relays! Really nice not having to take everything apart to afjust things as well! I was shocked at how worn my regulator was when I replaced it.
