Young Porsche driver dies in Kentucky

I am not a parent myself, but can you imagine hearing that both of your sons were killed in the same day in car wrecks. That would be absolutely horrible. Just wondering if anybody on here knew the guy who was driving the Porsche.

That is horrible. My youngest brother and I were involved in a very bad accident at the corner of countryside boulevard and 580 (for the clearwater folk out there). It was really bad. I remember having to almost rip the ignition out to get the ignition shut off because i could smell the gasoline.
I can still remember my parents flying around the corner thinking we were in serious condition because all the dispatch could tell them was that we had been in an accident. Everybody wear you safety belts out there!

That is really sad. My uncle died in a wreck about 6-8 years ago. He used to travel a lot for work and on his way back home, San Diego, he fell asleep at the wheel and went off a cliff. The examiner said he didn't feel a thing because he was alseep and the death was instant. Now everytime I drive to visit family in San Diego, I always pass through the same roadway.

That is a sad story. My Dad (who is a Cop) told me about it. He was a little wary as my car is an '84. Bad times. I hope that trooper will be able to cope. He will be in my prayers.

Wow... what terrible accidents. But, from the news story, both sounded like driver error.
This would be a good time to mention that I'm involved in a program that our local D.C. Audi Club does called the Totally Cool Teen Driving school. This is a one day school where we expose teens to the real world driving dynamic of a vehicle that they NEVER teach in regular driving school. We do several exercises including skid pad, threshold braking, handling and slolomn techniques, as well as some classroom seminars. Everyone that's taken the class has given it rave reviews and said they have never had so much fun and learned things about driving that they would never have known.

The father told authorities he had been talking with Rory McDowell on a cell phone about the time of the crash, Brown said. He said that might have been a factor in the crash, as well as excessive speed on a narrow road. He had no further details.

Terrible.
The worst (non-war related) incident I heard of goes back over 20 years ago. Three brothers (2 home from college, 1 in H.S.) all died on the Tappan Zee Bridge when a truck crossed-over the center and hit their car head-on.
That accident resulted in the erection of a concrete barrier (approx. 2 years later) separating east and westbound traffic on the bridge.
Of course, there were the five Sullivan brothers who all perished when their ship was torpedoed in the Pacific during WWII. That terrible occurrence resulted in a War Department rule prohibiting brothers from serving aboard the same ship and, later on, a prohibition against a sole surviving brother remaining in combat zone (Saving Pvt. Ryan).
