price check welt rear sway bar and motor
A guy a few towns over has a 1yr old weltmeister rear sway bar, a complete NA longblock with a spun #2 and a welt harness bar. What reasonable price for this stuff? the motor has approx 70k on it. thanks

The longblock is next to worthless, since there is a high likelyhood of cylinder wall damage and top end damage from the metal shards/shavings. Not to mention any other collateral damage I haven't considered. However the weltmeister sway bar's value depends on it's size. I have no idea on the harness bar.
If you were serious in the long block, offer maybe $300. The head is probably fine, and you might get lucky on the block itself.

Most of the time I find it's either-or. If the crank(#2) is junk, the block is good, if the block is junk(normally#4 scored) the crank is good. That's just judging from the 10 or so 944 motors I've personally been into.

A friend drove his 951 home 120 miles from a run with a bad #2 we all could hear. The bearing was gone, the crank was OK and he's been driving the car for the last year. A spun bearing doesn't always eqaute to bore damage. i think the key is the flush and cleaning of the block. I wouldn't say the engine was worthless, I'd take it sight unseen just for parts if it was toast.
