Default CV/Diff Flange Questions (pics)

Well, i drained the transmission fluid (new fluid getting in), took off the passenger side axle(getting cleaned and repacked) and took off the flange for the CV/Diff today (leaking shaft seal)......

Noticed this.....there are some grooves that i can feel with my finger nail, but they don't catch.

Thing is, this is not even where the shaft seal sits, i am not worried about this, just makes me wonder how/why did those grooves get there, and yes the flange has been cleaned very well (thanks to petrol and a toliet scrubber LOL)

If you could re-focus that last pic a little more on the shaft and less on the beverage it would help. The grooves you found may have been the result of the original machining process.

Camera sucks, could be from machining though...........it is not close to any seals at all.
