I guess JM ( and Geo) meant that the flow coefficient of the 2.7 head is not as high as the 2.5 head. The hole is bigger,so it flows more,but it doesn't flow as well for it's area increase compared to the 2.5 head.

I'll have to look at my notes. I do remember he said that the 2.7 in IT race trim only makes about 5 hp more than the 2.5. I just remember him saying something about the design and it not flowing as well. He should know, he has spent considerable time with these heads on the flow bench.
