Default a prospective offer I don't think I can refuse...

Hokay, now first thing's first, this is all SPECULATION... just dreaming right now, Dad and I... But, I'm graduating from college soon... And because my parents are so great (I love them, no matter what. I realize the opportunity they're giving me, and it makes me happy) and paying for my college, they'll have an additional large sum of money per year upon graduation.

Now... Dad wants a CaymanS... he's debating going to put a deposit on one... he's like, "Maybe I'll go trade in the TurboS..." I'm like, "Nope... don't do that one."

then he looks at me and says, "You can buy it... I'll sell it to you, we can turn your 924S into a spec car..." I then go to say, "How much?"

"$10,000.00" not too bad considering it's a 1988 944 Turbo S...with 58K on the clock, runs perfectly, has slight mods, etc. etc. Sooooooooooo...

I'm gonna do this if it happens... he'll allow monthly payments...which is nice...

so what would you do?

Take the deal -- and buy your dad something nice or cool in token of appreciation. Man, it sounds like you have a really cool father!

I had a lot of fun with cars in college and afterward, but looking back I wish I'd have saved up a few bucks and bought a condo or a loft as soon as I could. A Turbo will of course get modded and sure it will be fun, but so would having a half a million bucks worth of real estate before you hit 30. Consider letting the car get sold asking for help with a down payment instead. You can sell the car for your dad and get the best price too, so it wouldn't be like you miss out on a great deal since you'll get full value for the car.

Geoff
Whilst I have been in that car, and it is awesome (BTW Rob drives way too fast after several Marguritas! ) I would have to go along with the real estate suggestion.
Mate you're a young pup on the way up and you will need money down the line. Make sure the car goes to a 'lister and then you know it will be looked after!
