Headgasket Set and Front Seal parts identification
I broke a timing belt a couple of months ago and am finally ready to put it all back together. This is my first time for doing the head, belts and seals. I have the headgasket set and the front seal kit and I'm confused about what the heck all these gaskets, rings, etc. are.
Here are pics of both sets (purloined from the Paragon website), please help me identify all this stuff!
Headgasket Set:
1 - Headgasket
2 - Valves seals
3 - ?
4A - ?
4B - ?
4C - ?
5 - Rear cam assembly gasket
6 - Cam assembly gasket
7 - ?
8 - ?
9 - ?
10 - ?
11 - ?
12 - Intake manifold gaskets
13 - Exhaust manifold gaskets
14 - ?
Front Seal Kit:
1- ?
2 - ?
3- ?
4 - ?
5 - ?
6 - ?
7 - ?
8 - ?
9 - ?
For the record, I'm not completely clueless as to what some of these are but anything I wasn't 100% sure of I left with a question mark.
Help!!!!

7-seal for the coolant line that connects to the rear of the head under the intake manifold #4 runner (right next to the CV.
8 and 9- Coolant line into the head from the water pump. It has two pieces.
10- Replacment washers for the cheesehead screws on top of the camhousing (allowing access to the cam-housing bolts).
That's all I can remember off the top of my head.

14 Exhaust gaskets between header and rest of exhuast, they push in
11 - Cam seal, it goes on the end
4a, b, c -
one of those is the little "strange plastic name" seal that goes on the end of the cam before you put it all back together. Commonly missed. It is the one that is really really thin.
The smaller one that is thick goes in the little hole between the cam box on the front and the housing that holds the distributor
That is all i can remember. Not bad since I haven't done it since may of '04!

You should track the parts that come off so you can replace them with the right parts that you have. Match the P/Ns on the seals to be sure.
Those four seals in the front seal kit go on crank, cam, and the balance shafts. Slight differences between the balance shaft seals. The cam seal will be a duplicate of the one in the head kit. #5 is an o-ring for the oil pump shaft sleeve.
If you have a PET you can look up the P/Ns of the parts in the kits then cross-reference those to your engine. Often the kits have extra parts to cover more models and years.

Thanks GlenL, I suspected I had some duplicates and I appreciate the insight on the other seals.
Some of what's in there I recognize from what I've disassembled, the challenge is that I don't want to go around taking things apart just looking for seals.
I have done a fair amount of looking around on PET, the trick is that the pictures are less than precise and as you can see in the pictures, there are lots of round rubber seals in the kit, which all tend to look alike in PET. Also, the PET descriptions are typically pretty generic, they just say 'gasket'.
Thanks again, part of my hope in doing this post was to end up with a definitive 951 guide for posterity's sake.

I totally agree with GlenL. Do not go by what looks about right, go by the part numbers. Watch for directional arrows on the seals, if/as required.
These kits DO often have more parts than you need, in them.
Hopefully you ordered your kit not only by year/make, but included your engine number also.
I've gotten front seal kits before, that did not have the proper seals in them, when ordering without specifying the engine number, AND making a point out of it. Watch out for that. Go very slow, and methodically. "Close counts", won't cut it. If you do have PET, keep it close at hand for reference.
