It could've been a lot worse. It needs a new door handle and side moulding for sure (the door guard probably saved the door from the girl's rear tire but it's shredded now). There are deep scratches and light dents basically from the front to rear wheel. The mirror folded in quickly so it just has deep scratches all over. It doesn't look too good and tomorrow I'm calling the dealer to see if they have any good places to recommend. All I know is where not to go in San Antonio.

I guess the good part is that I could've used a new door handle anyway, and now the mirror won't have rock chips.

Scuba Steve - If you want top quality work, there's a place in Dripping Springs that Beasley in Austin uses...let me know if you want the name and number.

Doug - That weekend just opened up, so we'll be there on the 17th, with all the boys, and guns, and maybe the wifey...

Steve I can give you a place which does absolutely great body work on porsches in San Antonio (I've sent my 944 there more than once, and once it was for a side-swipe incident on DeZavala). PM me and I will give you the name.

I've been wishing for a road trip for the 951 but I'll be away that weekend. Damn. Maybe you will be ready for another GTG this spring. I miss spring in the Hill country.

Haven't checked in for a while.

I have F'd up my left shoulder/rotator cuff. Just had an MRI yesterday.

BUT, I am off work. Not much good at doing anything with my shoulder hurting, but hell, I really need to reseal the engine on mine and put in a new A/C compressor.

PLUS the 16th is my birthday.

HMMMMMMM.....?????

BUMP

Thanks for the help everybody - I took it to the insurance guy before going out of town on travel (I'm in Long Beach, CA right now but going back to TX tomorrow) and it was obvious he knew what he was doing. The guy had done his homework and was training two other people at the time I was there. The guy didn't shortchange me, the quote was exactly in the middle of the range I thought it would come out being. Since the damage is light but spread out in a good sized area I was prepared for a lowball but this was a plesant surprise. I think I'll be taking the car to a place off Eckert and Bandera in San Antonio - I've had about a half dozen people recommend that place, but I'm still going to look at their work before dropping the car off. Probably after the 16th because I want to be able to drive it out to the hill country.

It is on! In fact, I am leaving in an hour to go out there and hang out for the day. I plan on taking next Friday off and going out there early to help set-up.

OK, just got back - hope yall are ready for this, it's going to be a blast!

We were trying to get the engine dropped back into the gold car but realized we didn't have a new clutch for it and the old one was one of those God-forsaken rubber centered peices of crap. So instead we worked on the purple Camaro of death (shhhh, don't tell anyone I got GM grease on my hands.....).

Anyone set the timing on a GM lately? It's been a while for me. Don't forget to disconnect the vacuum advance. It makes a little difference.
Just left he food planning meeting for the upcoming weekend. It's carne quisada, refritos, tamales, chili and jalapeno tortillas. Out of wine. More later....

Sounds like it will be fun! Keep the guns away from Dan! I'll be there in the GMC part-lugger. If the weather looks right I may tackle re-spraying my hood...rattle-can white of course

James - sorry to hear about your injury. I messed up my rotator cuff my senior year of high school during a hockey game. Never been the same since.

Steve - I think I know of the shop you are talking about (don't remember the name). They do good work. We took the '93 VR-4 and the '97 M3 there before. That shop took the effort (back in 95) to go find a VR-4 in a parking lot to verify where the VR-4 emblem was supposed to go on the rear-end. Very impressed.
