If this thread turns in to a group buy -- count me in! I'd also be interested in getting some that St Pauli's.

I'll get the word to the 968 guys once you get the details of a group buy. I bet there will be a few that will be interested.

There was interest on the Racing/DE forum. Since the "lightweight" aspect is of interest to those with track cars, you might get a good response on that forum. I'm in.

See if you can get the mounting brackets included with the group buy, maybe as an option.

Is it possible to put (2) of these side by side in the stock location ????
or atleast close to each other ??

Currently I have a 2 battery setup and the one I have in the rear hatch holes is an old have baked battery.

The setup I have allows me to run certain electronics by themselves wether the car is on or off, and allow for isolation while cranking engine.

I'm flat broke, but will find a way to scrounge up some $$ for this if it is a great price..( Dear Santa... )

Thought I'd post up some info a buddy sent me when I told him I was looking at getting a Braille...
The actual battery is made by Deka for use in atvs and motorcycles. Model ETX14 aka Powersports Line. Yes its kinda advanced, on par or slightly better than the odysseys.

[Rant]
Instead of Braille's ULTIMATE VALUE of $175!!!! the Deka runs between $50 and 75.

Also, the specs for the Braille seem to be slightly inflated...

Braille claims the battery is 15AH reality 12AH
Braille claims 360CCA reality 200CCA
Braille claims Industry leading 1year warranty!!! Odyssey PC680 has a 3year warranty for everything except motorsports where it is 2 years
They further insult the competition claiming other companies charge you up to $15 for battery terminals whereas our are free! Odyssey's are available with terminals standard now, and you want to complain about a $15 vs your $125 more than the same battery without terminals.

Oh and free shipping! (AGM batteries are considered non hazardous so UPS ships them for like $10)
[/Rant]
I haven't researched/proven out these claims myself, but might be something worth checking into! If anything, the Braille is still a great batt, but you might be able to snag the $50 Deka and not lose out on anything.

Pics of each for comparison...

Just a follow-up, I found this thread after posting with some more details about the similarities between the Braille and the Deka. I haven't found any response from the USRT guys yet, but the thread on Vortex did start just before the holidays so maybe they haven't had time yet.

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2353060

These are words from the author of that thread:
DEKA is the manufacturer of the Braille labeled battery - fact.

the Braille and the Deka etx14 are the exact same box - fact.

the Braille and the Deka are the same design (based off of the schematic)

the Braille and the Deka weigh the exact same - 11.4 lbs - fact

the Deka tests the same as what the Braille is claimed to test at - 360-400CCA- fact

Do a search for EastPenn. They are they distributers and have great pricing. I just got a quote for 72 CDN which is about 64USD. And it's in stock locally.
