Looking for all nine 1987 U.S. Turbo Cup cars

Lucky guy that I am, my father just passed onto me our family heirloom 1987 951. One of the coolest things that came with it was a set of magnesium turbo cup wheels. I was a young lad when we went to the race shop (somewhere in the Greater Toronto Area) in the late 80s/early 90s with a stack of bills to buy these ratty looking race-used white wheels. They have since been painted Guards Red (!) and are currently shod with RA-1s for track duty. I would love to use these as my street wheels eventually as I have a race car already and the 944 is my GT car. It would be cool to paint them the proper Cup color -- does anyone know the paint code? Not that they are for sale, but what's the going price for a set of Mg Turbo Cup wheels?
Thanks!
Derek

I sold a very beat up set on ebay for $900 in 2007, and also bought a mint set on ebay for $1600 in 2007.
Although they are very cool and very rare wheels, most folks now want 17's or 18's.
But I love these wheels, and run 245/45-16's on all four corners.
The wheels are painted a pearlescent white, which I believe is or was an optional 1980's Porsche color.
Googling around a bit, looks like paint code might be LOA9, also used on Audis.

Thanks for the info. I probably should have searched around the site some more before asking anything as there is some information already out there (and more appropriate threads). One thing I did notice was all the people who claim they are too old and fragile to use as street wheels. What's your take on this? They have already seen a lot of use (including probably 40,000 miles on the street, multiple track days and Targa Newfoundland 2005), and are still holding up...

Paul, not to get off topic but have you ever considered what your car was worth? I would imagine its probably one of the only ones that wasn't completely stripped for racing.

I have tried to sell it a few times over the years, and find that potential buyers seem to think it's worth about half of what I do.
If I were to sell it, I think about how much I would have to spend to get a replacement that's as unique/rare, and as much fun.
I don't even know where I'd start!

Hi Paul,
I just purchased an 86 Cup car (NA) which raced in the Canadian Rothmans Challenge and will be shipping it to the US from Canada. My intention is to restore the car to its original configuration when it was raced. Do you have any potential leads on a seat just like yours?

Hello mclaudio,
welcome to the Turbo cup club, great purchase please post full details on your car. I am busy tracing all the turbo cup cars here in SA along with their race history. I was inspired by this forum.
I think the SPG seats are still easily available from Recaro in Germany as I bought some for my RSR replica a few years ago and they are identical to the ones in my turbo cup.
enjoy the car

I think it's a kevlar seat, I can check the tag and report back.
It is fabric covered, with suede upper bolsters (not sure if leather or synthetic- did alcantera exist then?).
I think the Porsche logo is embroidered directly onto the seat- not a patch. But I'll check.
