I had communicated with Dan about buying one of his Negative Ground Cable Kits. I was set to buy one, but he said he was trying to determine if USPS rates had gone up after Katrina, so he had to hold off. We chatted about how a Rennlister he knew lived in New Orleans, whose house was likely under water. I made a comment about how his car is likely a write-off as well.

He responded on September 7th, these were his last words to me:

He probably drove the 951 out of there packed with records and family treasurers. Then the wife with the kids and such in the other car. He is a banker so I'm pretty sure he had this all planed out, was risk adverse and cleared out early.

The house is going to be a disaster. While things could be worse, like getting killed, that is going to be a real chore getting his family back on their feet. I don't think we will see him on Rennlist for awhile.
Ironic last words....

R.I.P. Dan...

What happened? I can't believe it. He helped me solve an electrical problem I had earlier this year.
What a loss to our community. My prayers to him, his family and friends.

Wow... All of these posts in less than 10hrs... I still can't believe this... Does anyone here know what actually happened? I spoke w/him on the 18th & he seemed fine... was about to have dinner w/someone- had joked that it was job offer & that if he took it, would be relocated to halfway around the world- had even said something about it, eariler in the day, by e-mail- "....if that happens, you can forget Dan Wray & his light-kits b/c shipping would kill the whole deal...."

Who made the avatars? Nice idea... Hope you don't mind me borrowing...? thanks...

Today, I light on up for the big guy! Dan, you were a great man, and I hate that I never got a chance to do business with you. We talked a lot through pm's, and I just don't know what to say...

We love you Dan, and we'll never forget you!

I'm pretty speechless. Really drew a blank on this one! Wow. Very unexpected.

May his memory live on forever in the Porsche community.

I know he really helped squeeze me in on this last battery cable group by. He honestly transformed my car with that kit. My car runs the way it does because of him. I enjoy my car so much more...because of something he did for fun and to help the the people on these boards. He will truly be missed.
