For those of you that responded to the earlier feeler thread https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-944-951-968-forum/232286-feeler-thread-sacto-nor-cal-fall-mountain-run.html
here's the plan and routes. Some people might be coming from Santa Rosa, Modesto, Stockton, and hopefully we can get some of the Bay Area people off of Hwy. 9 for a day. Not the best map but I'll have maps for everyone attending that you can actually read! As usual it's a bring your own lunch/drinks thing and we have a good place lined up to pull the cars over and use some tables. Weather should be in the high 50's to 60's, we will get to near 8,800' elevation at Monitor and Ebbetts Pass so be sure to bring a jacket and aspirin if you get headaches at higer altitudes. Most of the driving will be below 6000'
This trip takes us to Markleeville southeast of Lake Tahoe. We will meet up east of Sacto. at Hwy 50 and Sunrise near Folsom at 8:00 or nine depending on where drivers are coming from. From there will drive to Pollock Pines and turn off for Mormon Immigrant Trail, MIT to Hwy 88, 88 to 89 and have lunch in Markleeville, the smallest county in California. (114 miles).

For the return drive we have several options depending on where you drove in from and time permitting: We can make an optional 25 mile RT sidetrip to beautiful Monitor Pass and back to Markleeville for lunch. From the view point above down to Hwy 395 and back is 15 miles of some of the most varied road I've been on. You defintely learn how to brake, downshift, turn and stomp it real quick.

Route A: MV to Sacto via 88, Fiddletown Road, and Hwy 16 (224 miles) this would be the shortest route back to Sacto.
http://pashnit.com/roads/cal/FiddletownRd.htm
http://pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway88.htm
Route B: MV Sacto via Hwy 4, 49, and 9 (269 miles), this would be a longer route back but good for drivers south of Sacto.

![](http://forums.rennlist.com/upload/hwy4brontobarf1.jpg)
Route C: MV to Stockton/Modesto via Hwy 4, 49, and 108 (244/262 miles), this short section would be for anyone from Modesto or heading further South down 99.
These are some great roads with at least 3 mountain passes, beautiful Sierra scenery, and fall colors. I'll post more links to various sections we'll be on as the week goes on. Let me know if you are still interested, it will be a full day of driving for some of you but us Sac folks make it to the Bay Area runs, time to reciprocate. I've been driving these mountain routes for years and if you like to drive these are the roads for you. Nothing is 'too' technical, some serious twisties and wide open sweepers, but common sense is still the rule of the day.
Hope you can join in for one last trip before the snow falls.

most of these were in-car or getting off for about 2 seconds. the road in apple hill is pretty nice. more of something you'd run a time trial on as opposed to a giant run. either way, have fun guys, i hope to make it to whatever run comes out next. (hopefully i'll have my oil burning/clutch woes out by then)

Sorry guys, I don't think I'll be getting my car to the shop this week. I'll have to miss this meet. Take lots of pictures so I can be jealous of the great time you all had. Unless someone is willing to come help me get the belts done before Saturday... LOL.
Have a great time and drive safe, maybe check the tension of your BS belt before the drive...

You'll have to take me off the fence...
I'm committed to meeting a bunch of crazy guys and drive all over the Hill and back wasting $3.xx a gal gas. Sooo. No radical 914/8. It will be the not so radical 86 951 with new shoes. Black Fukes are nice, but man, I fell in love with this machine all over again.

I just re-read Steve's original post. . . We'll be hitting 8000 feet, and while we won't be at altitude a very long time, altitude sickness doesn't take long either. Bring WATER!
