Mine had 5 bent when I bought the car.
The good:
- Bent valves look interesting on a desk at work and attract other car nuts in the office
- You will have a whole lot of new gaskets when you're done
- This is also a good time to change the oil cooler, water pump, balance/crankshaft oil seals, and vacuum lines. The car will be in better shape after it's all taken care of, save your reciepts as proof of work done.
- Removing and reinstalling the head isn't difficult in my opinion, go slow, don't rush, and keep parts organized
- Simple green + engine bay
The bad:
- It'll take awhile to get the job done
- Cost - I think it was about $500 between the valves, valve guides, head work, and head gasket kit

When you first came on Rennlist did anyone ask you about your maintenance records? I'm not referring to your first postings in the wrong forums and the resulting immature flame fest.

Good luck with the work! This happened on my S, only it was due to the camshaft gear teeth being torn up after 180k miles (I still think they should of replaced the chain after the PO had the chain wear into the chain tensioner). That job ran me 3200 for 2 cams 16valves other parts..
