Hey Tom,

I imagine I do have an inferiority complex. However when i see the 50+ year old guy in the corvette next to me, I feel somewhat better.

I guess my complex could be worse ...I could be driving a h2 hummer!

I say race him! Don't be defeated by the numbers. Make him prove it. Any idiot can mash the gas pedal, but he will have to avoid wheel spin. If he beats you at the straight line stuff, then take to the track. Just make sure you know what you're doing, or you'll be embarrassed again.

BTW, drifting is the stupidest thing that has ever come along. You can tell him I said so.

It will be a pretty good race after 40mph. The gto is actually pretty slow for a 400hp car. If it's an 04 i'll bet you can take him. Don't race him off the line. Few people know how to launch a 951 . Set the mbc to 18psi. Throw a little zylean in for go measure and go for it. If your car is an S and in good shape you have a good chance at beating him.

i dont know what the big deal on GTO's is. new mustangs beat them, and my 951 beats new mustangs. yeah, the '05/'06 GTO is a pretty high-hp machine, but it's pretty slow compared to other V8 cars of today. an 05 GTO with the LS2 does what, 13.3 in the quarter with a professional C&D driver? breakfast for a lightly modded Turbo S. again, dont race this guy from the line, do a 20 or 40 roll-on, hit the boost and leave him in your mirrors. ....then post the story.

My friend had an 04 GTO. We went at it a few times on the highway and on the onramp to the highway. One time I was in front, one time he was. He only pulled aways slightly when he was in front and he said when I was in front he was every bit WOT and barely gaining on me. That was with an exhaust leak in my car pre-O2 sensor. FWIW. The 05 GTOs have 50 more horses though...

The new mustangs do not beat the GTO in a straight line. At least not the C&D earlier this year when they went head to head. It wasn't even close. An 05 goat will eat a Mustang for lunch.

yeah, an LS2 one will. 400hp vs 300 hp? lol. of course, i'd put my 951 against any fresh off the dealer lot, still has window-sticker glue goat or stang. new goats run 13.3. from a roll, a 951 is pretty evenly matched. especialy a turbo S with mods.
