944 Suspension and drops. How to?
Here's my Q'n?
My car is not going to be a daily. The VW GTI has that role. It's riding on Nuespeed sport springs, sways and 17's. I like the ride even though it needs some tuning. The tail can drift a bit When I went to the Nuespeeds it dropped the car about an inch and a half.
I have got to say that I love the progressive rate springs for a daily. It is smoother than stock on flat roads but holds up on the bumpies. Closer to what I think that the car should have been shipped with.
What kind of suspension options do I have to get me to something close. I know that it is a tough question as everyone has likes and dis-likes.
The goal would be a 1-2in drop on the 944. 16in phonies 7's and 8's and something about the height of Gobogies, Tifo's? car or Lead Foot's.
I know that going from the 15in PD's to a 16in PD will make a dif in ride, I am looking to get, well something that the 15in and 60's are not.
Here is a pic as a ref of what I would like from another one of the other threads

weltmeister front 200 springs 1" drop
rear eccentric bolt trick 3/4" drop
front and rear turbo sways
bigger wheels will just slow you down, but they do look good, I just know that difference between running on my 16" phonies and 15" fuchs is amazing, the 15s are so much nicer!

depends on what kind of drop you're looking for. weltmeister springs will not get you anywhere near the level that tifo's car is at above. you need coilovers dropped about 2-2.5" in front and either reindex the torsion bars in the rear and/or buy rear coilovers to adjust the same amount. the rear eccentric will not drop you down as low as tifo's car is above. you must reindex the torsion bars.

Also make sure you address the issue with balljoints before dropping the front more than an inch or so. More than this on stock balljoints can cause them to bind and damage the balljoint / control arm, leading to possible failure.

If you want to slam your car like tifo and avoid cracking your control arms you need to go with a very high spring rate (to decrease suspension travel in corners and over bumps). Or you can go with rennbays longer balljoints.
Lowering the rear end can be easily achieved by placing several 45 lb weights in place of the spare tire. Doing it right is an incredibly large amount of work.
Extensive suspension work on a 944 isn't a "casual affair." It should be very purpose based because quite frankly, the amount of money tifo has in his suspension is worth more than your 944.
Since you're not trying to turn your car into a track car, then I suggest upgrading your shocks to konis or bilsteins, getting larger swaybars, and some grippy 245/45/16 tires all around.

I know that there is a lot of options, I guess that what I need to do is get some driving time in on cars with different set-ups.
What I was thinking was that I like the look of the car w/a bit less air in the wheel well and closer to the ground. I will likely go with something along the lines of Koni's and HR's. Just really trying to get some ideas.

I would personally go with a setup like this,
-Front-
Koni adjustable struts (or whatever you prefer)
Adjustable ride height spring perches
200lb springs (again, depends on what you want)
Geometry correcting balljoints
-Rear-
Koni adjustable shocks (same as the struts)
Lower with the trailiing arm trick. If you do not achieve the results you are looking for, i would reindex the torsion bars and while your at it upgrade to larger ones.
This can all be done for under $1000 and should allow you to drop the car to fit your liking.
