couldnt tell you much about 928's except that they sound expensive to maintain-anyone watch top gear? I can tell you a thing or two about 914's though. Hope you dont have to adjust the lifters yourself, if so try www.914club.com those guys are super helpful and halarious. Have you ever driven a 914 before? I thought it would be super cool and all until i owned one, now mine was heavily swaybarred and frame reinforced and such but that car was not something i would want to drive to relax. Give me an N/A 944 anyday. You could prob. get a good one for half the price and have that much more cash to put into your turbo or save for maintenance. I hope you have experience w/ funky fuel injection, fuel lines that like to explode-when not replaced- and staying up at nite worrying about rust under your seats. I love 914's but not as a daily driver, oh and hopefully the seals are all new-$1200 - or it could leak like a sinking ship when sitting outside in the rain.

I have to tell you I love(d) my 928S(s). But the joy of the 51 is just enough to keep that urge at bay. One of the sweetest sounds is starting the engine.

When you open this page a sound file will play.

I own both and for quick hops around town the 914 it the ticket- whole lotta fun. Daily freeway use and you will really enjoy the 928. I drive my '86.5 928 everyday. If economy and maintenance cost are large factors as you indicate then the 914 is the only option. Parts are much less expensive I found and they are easy to work on. Oh hell, get both.

Yeah, economy is the big ticket with this. Maintenance is as well, but I figured about the same for both plus a hundred or two for the 928...about the same as the 951 stock

You young kids just dont get it. Never... Ever buy a car that your girlfriend approves of. That is your first mistake. When she dumps you and my guess is she will.... you will be forced to think of her each time you start the car.

Your second mistake is buying a car slower than hers. 914-928??? Buy the car you want. If your asking us and your girlfiend has to approve it first, this thread is a waste of time.

Good luck

It is called sarcasm. You need to read between the lines.

If it makes you feel any better, I got it. But usually I tend to be oozing sarcasm and am often misunderstood as being "mean".

Talking

This thread should be called "What your GF thinks my GF should approve". That way, he - sorry, I mean she - would have gotten REAL advice, not second hand male lust.

Yes, the "free" 914, by definition, would have been cheaper, huh?

Yes, I know....note the smiley at the end...I put those in case some body does not get it...kind of "it was a joke-get it" insurance
You need that kind of insurance here on Rennlist®...
