Question Power Steering Pump Rebuild Q's

I searched through the archives and couldn't find the answer. I am rebuilding my son's PS pump because the C clip that holds the pump shaft in broke. There are 2 pieces that look like C clips in the rebuild kit from Rennbay. Can I use these to replace the broken clip. I say looks like a C clip because they look like wire and don't go around the shaft as far as a regular C clip does. Any insight here would be a lot of help. Thanks in advance....

If the shaft you're talking about is the sleeve coming out of the rack itself, and you've got some orbital play in it, a rebuild won't help. Thats how mine was, the rack itself is physically damaged, but otherwise that kit should contain everything you need.

I'm rebuilding the pump not the rack. I did the rack over a year ago and it is perfect. The clip is on the end of the shaft inside the pump.
