Default These cars were designed by a sadist

OMG, I feel sorry for people with these cars as road cars who work on them themselves.

Tonight I took out the master cylinder and power booster. The MC was easy enough. Geez, the booster was a much bigger PITA than expected. Keep in mind that I'm working on a car with no engine (actually almost empty engine bay) and totally stripped interior except for the wiring harness and steering column. Some of the bolts were a real PITA to get to and I could barely get them undone.

It looks like I'm going to remove the steering column to get the wiring harness out. Now, I know I don't have to, but it looks like it will be much easier. Have I mentioned what a PITA some things are to work on?

I thought doing a belt job would be a PITA, but I'd rather do a belt job, blindfolded, in the dark than some of the other things I've had to do. Geez.

I haven't even started on the clutch MC (or is that the slave on the firewall?).

It's pretty rare that I rant on the boards, but I'd like to beat the sadist who designed these cars.

The booster is quite possibly THE worst job on a 944. I pulled one out of a car I cut up, I still couldn't get to it, lol, after it was cut in half and standing on end.

Try a heater control valve, or oil cooler reseal WITH the motor in.

I could probably do it in the car, but someone would owe me their soul.

I'm making a wish list of PITA to replace parts that I'd like to do while it's still marginally easier.

Shoot, a job like that it may be quicker and easier to just take out the engine. I'm serious.

I would pull the engine on a Sentra SE-R to do a clutch job any day of the week. Much easier and probably about the same amount of time.

For that matter, if there weren't so damned many older and brittle parts on the 944 I'd pull the engine to do a clutch job on it as well.

heater control valve and oil cooler seals, done both twice or more, still nowhere near as bad, even all 4 together, lol.

It might have been. I thought clutches on FWD cars were a PITA until we had to do the clutch in the 944. Now, the 944 wouldn't be that bad because we've done a couple. I had to help one of my tech'
s do a clutch in an Acura Integra, and we had the tranny out in under an hour. Granted air tools, a lift, and the fact that I was totally PO'd because it hadn't gotten done helped out a bunch.

Wobble sockets. Gotta love 'em.

George, it only gets more fun when you've got extra junk in there, like a turbo, for instance.

I still need to help Jeff finish his 951 clutch. His project got derailed last weekend. Imagine that.

try taking out the ENTIRE car wiring harness out in ONE PEICE!

that was worth a thousand curse words.
all the wires going down the back of the car..under the dash and steering column. wedged inbetween the gas tank and the body. it was horrible....

I'll probably have to work this Sunday, but the one after that should be OK. Let me know if you want, we can go finish it up.

If we get done soon enough, maybe go shooting? I'd like to have the new 40 cal by then.

Funny you mention shooting. My CCW class is Sunday. Saturday I've got an intimate date with a chainsaw in my backyard, as that ol' hag Rita left a mess after her party. Jeff's on his own for a few more days. Calling him tomorrow to see where he's at with it.

That's another "to do" item. I found a place in Conroe that does a CC class on Sunday. I think its 199 including photo, fingerprints, paperwork, and range fees.

Need an opinon. Beretta 9000s?

The entire wiring harness is not that bad.... I got 2 of them in my garage from 951s.
